Security manufacturer Cypress Integration Solutions of Lapeer, Mich. announced that Clinton Bolinger returned to Cypress this month as director of manufacturing and engineering.

Bolinger, who served in the role with Cypress from 2010 through 2021, will additionally oversee the company’s work in PCB assembly and turnkey electronics manufacturing. Bolinger has extensive experience in manufacturing engineering, a data-driven mindset, and a passion for developing processes and procedures that enhance efficiency.

“Clinton is a fantastic addition to our team,” said Jon Uren, CEO of Cypress. “His experience with operations will help us serve our customers and partners even better.”

Bolinger earned his Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering at Kettering University in Flint, Mich. and worked as a manufacturing engineer before joining the staff at Cypress in 2010 to direct the company’s manufacturing and engineering departments.

In partnership with his wife Brandi, Bolinger also began a high school robotics team, FIRST Robotics Team 2337, The EngiNERDs. The couple has regularly led workshops to help rookie teams onboard into the competitive robotics program. Due to Bolinger’s dynamic reputation in the robotics community, Kettering invited him to oversee the university’s robotics program in 2021.

“Kettering University has made a significant impact on the competitive robotics community. Supporting their events over the past five years was a rewarding experience, but I was ready to return to the challenges of engineering in my day-to-day work,” Bolinger said, noting that Cypress’ reputation for supporting robotics was influential in his return to the company. “Cypress promotes an outstanding work-life-hobby balance by supporting my role as a coach and mentor of the EngiNERDs. Through valuable partnerships, Cypress not only helps sustain and grow our team but also provides excellent internship opportunities for our students.”
